Battery Pack Testing System

There is a huge change happening in the automobile industry in the last few decades. Due to the increasing awareness of environmental protection, the whole nations are trying to promote the development of clean energy in order to decline the dependence of fossil resources. therefore,  the changing of automobile industry is irreversible. As we all know, it is impossible to replace the traditional vehicle in a short term, however, governments are trying to use tax discount to lead the market become ‘less fossil, and more electrical’ , such as French, Germany, the States, Norway, Japan, Korea and China, they are giving free vehicle tax for EV or even tax subsidy, obviously, it works pretty well. In order to meet the demand, Neware has already invented IGBT 7000, which is spectacularly focusing on the pack testing system. To be distinguished with BTS  4000, IGBT has a large scale of both voltage and current, which could customized from 60V — 1000V and 100A — 1000A respectively. Moreover, expects from the same competitive advantages as BTS 4000, such as mock test supported, 0.1% accuracy, it also support CAN Bus connections, which is based on the EV needs. 

CAN Bus for EV

What is CAN Bus,  Controller Area Network (CAN bus) is a robust vehicle bus standard designed to allow micro controllers and devices to communicate with each other in applications without a host computer. It is a message-based protocol, designed originally for multiplex electrical wiring within automobiles to save on copper, but is also used in many other contexts. In this case, we are using the middle machine which is also recognized as the switch here, to connect CAN Bus and test the voltage and temperature etc. in order to have a better real-time monitoring and protection.  (Figure 2.0)

A battery management system (BMS) based on the CAN-bus was designed for the Li-ion battery pack which consisted of many series-connected battery cells and was distributed dispersedly on the electric vehicle (EV). The BMS consisted of one master module and several sampling modules. The hardware design of the sampling circuit and the CAN expanding circuit was introduced.  The BMS Broadcaster program will export a set of data via a Canbus hardware link. The data set is open and described here to facilitate 3rd party usage of the data generated by the Battery Management System. (Zhang, Qi and Wu, 2008) Also, why do we need BMS? It was invented to protect the battery from explosion, however, with the development of technology in battery field, nowadays, it also helps with managing the working temperature and conditions. 

Therefore, our IGBT 7000 is consist of  so many functions, which are completely tailor-made for pack battery testing.
